What is Hydro-Excavation?

Hydro-Excavation uses pressurized water to break up the soil and industrial vacuums to remove it. It is a safe, environmentally-friendly method of SAFELY digging around underground utilities – and won’t even damage tree roots. In addition it can be used for potholing, trenching, tunneling, and contamination spills.

Hydro-Excavation vs. Traditional Excavation

The main difference is the most important one: safety. By vacuuming up the dirt, you’re “revealing” what’s under the surface as opposed to penetrating the earth with a giant metal claw – and if there’s anything underground, a traditional excavator will most certainly damage it. Taking out an electrical line or fiber optic line could mean disaster for the surrounding areas, so why take the risk?

It can also be substantially CHEAPER. Getting a traditional excavator onsite means a separate truck and trailer to haul it to the location. If you need to haul the dirt away, that could mean a separate Front Loader machine to put the dirt in yet another vehicle dump truck. Our Hydro-Excavation trucks can do the work of 4 machines.

It’s Portable Excavation

Our trucks are traditional excavators on wheels. Pro-Vac can arrive at the job site, safely dig a trench, and haul away mounds of dirt in one fell swoop. But yet another functionality of our Hydro-Excavation team is the tight spaces that our trucks can maneuver in. As opposed to the wide-open spaces that an excavator would need, our trucks have hundreds of feet of hose that can go down hallways, in basements, and other hard to reach areas – such as condensed urban areas.

Environmentally Friendly

Our precision digging not only protects against underground infrastructure damage, it also protects our plant life. When we need to get beneath the surface with Hydro-Excavation, any tree roots we come across will remain intact – something that can’t be said for digging with powerful metal claws.

Because the dirt we vacuum goes directly into the back barrel of our Hydro-Excavation trucks, Pro-Vac is the perfect solution for contamination spills. If there’s an oil leak or other large-scale cleanup, our team is able to precisely vacuum the affected areas and haul it away for proper disposal. There’s no prepping containment areas and no messy stockpile of dirt – plus with our years of experience, Pro-Vac can assist in disposing of any sediment properly so you can stay protected from any environmental fines.

Pro-Vac’s comprehensive training program ensures our Hydro-Excavation Operators are equipped with the best skills in the industry.  We have the largest Vac-Con fleet in the United States and the best support. When put up against our competitors, Pro-Vac saves time and money again and again.
